Q. Do I need to use a special meter working with detectION ISE’s?

A. No. Any pH meter with mV scale or Ion Meter (preferably) is compatible with any detectION probe.

Q. What is the difference between Combination and Mono ISEs?

A. Mono ISE requires separate Reference Electrodes while Combination probe has this one already built-in.

Q. I measure X-Ion following EPA (ASTM, FDA or so) method. Can I use detectION Electrode?

A. Yes, you can.

Q. The method I use to measure X-Ion, requires a certain buffer. Can I skip the buffer by using detectION electrodes?

A. No, you can’t.The method itself has to be the same.

Q. Do I still need to calibrate these ISE with a Standard Solution?

A. Yes, you do, since that’s the nature of the measurement – comparison sample to the standard.

Q. Do you sell ISE storage bottles and solutions?

A. No, because you don’t need any. Just store them dry.

Q. I need to measure X-Ion. My Orion (etc.) ISE is not sensitive enough
(The concentration is below lower limit). Will detectION probe be better?

A. Unfortunately, no. Concentration range is the same.

 

Q. I need to measure X-Ion in the presence of Y-Ion, which is interfering ion for x, according to the specs for any ISE. Will detectION probe change the situation?

A. No, it will not.

 

Q. I have everything set up for Orion ISE’s (meter, holder, standards, buffers, etc.) Can I use all this stuff with detectION or I’ll need to purchase everything all over again?

A. No, you don’t need anything special and can use what ever was used for.

 

Q. I think, there is something wrong with my Electrode. Is there any criteria to find out if it works properly?

A. Yes, it is. Electrode’s potential (millivolt reading) has to be changed for about 56 mV for monovalent and about 27 mV for divalent ion with 10 fold concentration change.
